WITH the word “balls,” rolling up the last terms in the parable of the little kingdom, Superintendent Rico in the Mountain Province uses his hand to appraise his body and peeps if he has that part. He then declares: All plebeians in the mafia must paddle this part as initiation rites. For in the end, all balls clench with power seems conceited and needs frequent polishing, before its perfect shape and congeniality appears.
But to some hand, rather than rubbing those balls, opts to hold the pen, instead. Determined not to be the “flower base” superintendent as he was widely known of, he decided to write the words of wisdom that might enlightened all members and non-members of the fabled DepEd mafia. With this masterpiece, he will be known as the legendary godfather. Indeed, Superintendent Rico, alongside every odd has written the timeless, undisputed code of conduct, masqueraded as sonnet. Here are the verses and the conclusion of these series.
With spirits of the mafia, all Mafiosi’s must support each other, in one way or another. From hiring to promotions, all papers need mafia’s intervention, to uphold concealment of bias competitions. As such, memorandums and orders of the division are constructed to include interpretations. Principals and heads are utmost the front-line to decode, just to give favor by using words that are broad. Collusion is the best weapon against perceive antagonisms, for no force is stronger aboard, other than each one persevered to accord. Sowing fear and propagating illiteracy are the strategy that ripens everything into phony victory.

Then, I solemnly swear to maintain adherence to the DepEd mafia’s existence, support all forms of unlawfulness or illegality by observing bad faith and dishonesty. I will do pretense by fabricating, innovation, publication, and training and research documents for allies’ aid or rivals’ dent. I will raise the colleague’s performance rating and hand down those of the bright but are always critiquing.
I will close my eyes or pretend to be blind against the obvious failure of the DepEd curricula, overcrowded classrooms; error appended workbooks, unnecessary seminars, midyear reviews and in-service training, red tapes and lack of learning resources. I will continue encouraging legislators to craft more child protection policies and lessen teacher’s protection policies.
I will conduct myself as the arrogant Mafiosi devoid of knowledge and dexterity but whose powers are meant for abuse and infidelity. I will help dissipate DepEd’s resources for myself, my family and the protection of my ally. I will keep on changing how the DepEd system operates in view of its epic catastrophe.
