Pacya: La Trinidad co-op: An agent of community transformation

IF YOU’VE been scouting for a reliable and viable co—op to safe keep your money and secure your future, the La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post Multipurpose Cooperative (LTVTP MPC) is one of the best picks.

The local government unit of La Trinidad feted the cooperative as one of the Outstanding Co—ops in the valley. Together with the distinction is a special award for its Outstanding Community Involvement. These awards show that LTVTP MPC is one-of-a-kind business entity which backs the transformation of its society.

In its mission to sustain and complement delivery of services that responds to the needs of its members and community, trading post co—op has utilized an estimated total amount of P366,000 to support community activities last year. Since its inception in 1992, the co—op displayed high sense of social responsibility. It upheld projects in schools, barangays and other groups not only in the capital town but also around the province of Benguet.

It has also improved its program in Health Aid and Mutual Aid Funds (MAF). LTVTP MPC increased its claims of members and even if the member is admitted and confined for one day only, still, the health assistance will be provided. If combined with the MAF, the co—op released an amount of P841,000 to its members who needed the assistance in 2018.

This multi-millionaire cooperative offers all kinds of loan products. In fact, it released a loan average of P35 million from 2014 to 2018. Last year was the biggest release so far in four years amounting to P78 million.

The co—op’s dedication to supporting the public paid off a hundred fold. As of December 2018, the co—op is blessed with 4,583 members with total assets of nearly a half billion pesos. For the past years, revenues, expenses and net surplus show remarkable increase. For 2018, it noted that there was an increase of P4.47 million pesos or 26 percent from 2017.

Not known to many, LTVTP MPC is one of the angels that rescued and revived the Benguet State University and Community MPC — now a model and a billionaire co—op of the north. This act perfectly defines the co—op’s mission of living and promoting the cooperative way of life.
