Benguet, PSC all set for 1st Pilipinas Para Games

PREPARATIONS are in full swing for the first 2019 Pilipinas Para Games in the Benguet Sports Complex on May 9 to 11.

To be hosted by Benguet province, the event dubbed as the “2019 Pilipinas Para Games differently abled sports for life” is in partnership between the national para Olympic committee in the country-the Philippine Sports Association for Differently Abled-National Paralympic Committee of the Philippines (Philspada).

The event seeks to discover new breeds of talents to compete in the national and international level will be joined by differently-abled youth.

As early as Saturday, the Philippine Sports Commission Pilipinas Para Games Technical Working Group have arrived in the province in preparation to the upcoming 2019 Pilipinas Para Games.

Expected participants include the 13 municipalities of Benguet and the City of Baguio.

The first Para Games for the youth seeks to urge youth persons with disability community to foster their ability in sports. The PSC also seeks the Para Games in bridging the discovering of talents of athletes that is ready to enter the games outside the country.

Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso said realizing there are also people into Para Games in the province, they didn’t hesitate for the sporting event to be conducted in the province.

“We realize that we also have people in our province that are into Para Games and when we did have that in the region, Benguet is doing well. When Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) offered to have Para Games here we accepted, knowing that we have good athletes here,” Pacalso said.

“This is again one way of appreciating differently abled constituents that they can excel and serve in the Para Games,” he continued.
