UNIVERSITY of Baguio scored another lopsided victory as it extended its win streak to seven in the ongoing eliminations round of the 33rd season of the Baguio - Benguet Education Athletic League men’s basketball.

The Cardinals turned back the University of the Cordilleras Sunday afternoon at the CCDC Gym, 84 – 57, as it clinched the top spot of the standings and a twice to beat advantage in the semis with one game remaining for the defending champion.

Claude Leymark Camit exploded for 13 of his team high 17 points on three triples early in the payoff period as the Cardinals mount an 18 – 2 run and lead by 74 – 47 with 7:21 remaining in the ball game.

UB was still leading by 11, 56 – 45, at the close of the third period when the reigning men’s basketball champion unleashed the run and seal another run- away victory after a 40 point drubbing of Saint Louis University Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals showed no sign of fatigue as it went straight to work early in the ball game posting a 6 – 2 lead with 7:48 remaining in the first canto but the Jaguars however played catch – up and momentarily grab the lead, 8 – 9, on two free throws by Chester Elefante with 5:02 left in the quarter.

But that was the last and only taste of the lead for UC as the Cardinals regained the lead and never looked back, stopping run after run by the Jaguars.

Vince Ahron Sibbaluca and Bheiniedick Lozano added 12 and 10 apiece for the Cardinals who can close out the eliminations with another victory against upset seeking Cordillera Career Development College Admirals, BBEAL season 33 host, on Thursday at the CCDC gym.

Elefante meanwhile posted another game high 23 points with Christian Geosep Valdez and Chiennex Gallang chipping in eight and seven markers respectively as the Jaguars fell to 5 – 2 and hang on to the third spot of the team standings.

CCDC, meanwhile, scored a huge upset Sunday evening after edging SLU, 91 – 56, in the other eliminations game and improve their record to 5 – 2 to hang on to the number four spot of the team standings.
