BAGUIO City National High School will gun for a fifth straight over-all title in the secondary level while University of Baguio (UB) seeks a repeat in the elementary level as the North and Central Luzon leg of the 31st edition of the Milo Little Olympics kicks off at the Baguio Athletic Bowl.

During the past four stagings of the Milo Little Olympics, City High continues to dominate the event edging the best high school squads from Central and North Luzon after amassing 195.5 points topping athletics, gymnastics, and tennis while scoring second place finishes in football women’s artistic gymnastics, and volleyball boys during last year’s meet.

With UB also hoping for a repeat, Mabini Elementary School seeks to reclaim the top spot in the elementary level.

UB’s elementary squad dominated the filed by topping girls swimming and table tennis and second place finish in arnis while Mabini bagged the crown in basketball, and a second place finish in athletics.

More than 5,000 athletes including coaches and chaperones will be in the Summer Capital for the North and Central Luzon leg of the three day competition for elementary and junior high school students.

The annual youth sports competition aims to emphasize Milo’s unwavering commitment to the country in developing not only athleticism but also mental discipline among student-athletes who will be the next generation of sports heroes.

A total of 15 sports will be showcased in the Olympics among them badminton, basketball, chess, football, gymnastics, lawn tennis, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, sepak takraw and scrabble. Arnis and karatedo will be featured as demonstration sports.

Overall champion for the high school and elementary division brings home Milo Sports Equipment worth P 40,000 while the runner-up gets P 20,000. The 3rd placer receives P10,000 with the 4th placer getting P 5,000 while the 5th to 10th placers will win P 3,000. (Roderick Osis)
