TWO Highland Boxing Gym fighters failed to bring home victories suffering setbacks against their rival overseas.

Sonny Katiandagho failed to snag another regional title after losing in China during the weekend.

Katiandagho, the former World Boxing Council Eurasia Pacific Boxing Council welterweight title holder, bowed to Baishanbo Nasiyiwula via unanimous decision in their 12 round match-up at Qingdao Guosen Gymnasium in Qingdao, China.

Nasiyiwula's win earned him the vacant World Boxing Association Asia super lightweight title and the vacant World Boxing Council Asian Boxing Council super lightweight title.

The 25-year-old Katiandagho's recent loss will be his third in 15 bouts and his second in his last three bouts after losing to Darragh Foley in April 2017 during their World Boxing Association Oceania super lightweight title match-up.

Gilbert Gomera meanwhile fell to Can Xu via a technical knockout for his fifth defeat in 18 bouts.

Gomera last saw action in November 2017 where he scored a TKO against Omrri Bolivar to bag the vacant OPBF silver featherweight title in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Prior to his victory against Bolivar, Gomera was on a three fight losing streak against Michael Escobia, Nam Joon Lee and Hidenero Otake. (Roderick Osis)
