CWPC inks deal with Moresco-2 for wireless broadband

THE Misamis Oriental II Electric Service Cooperative Inc. (Moresco II) and the Community Wireless and Power Corporation (CWPC) have signed a memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that aims to initiate the local government unit (LGU) Wireless Broadband Network.

It can be recalled that the CWPC, during its launching last February 28, announced that the municipality of Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental will be the first to receive the 300 LED streetlights with wireless WiFi and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras.

According to CWPC, with this partnership, the LGU Wireless Broadband Network and LED (Light Emitting Diode) Retrofits can be established through the Moresco II Franchise Area utilizing the CWPC’s eSmart LED Lighting Solutions which will be provided at no capital expenditure to each local government units.

This is in accordance with the eSmart LED and financing program under a Public Private Partnership to reduce power consumption under a shared savings model to be negotiated in final agreement.

The signing of the MOU between the CWPC and Moresco II is one of the requirements that needed to be done before begin the installation of the streetlights, WiFi and CCTV will begin, James McCorkle of CWPC said, with the other being the memorandum of agreement signing between CWPC and the local government unit of Magsaysay.

According to engineer Roberto Dignos, CEO of Moriah Builders, the installation process for streetlights, WiFi and CCTV in Magsaysay town will take around six months.
