TWENTY-ONE ladies representing their respective municipalities and cities in Misamis Oriental are vying for the title of Miss Kuyamis 2020.

The official candidates were presented to the public during the flag raising rites at the Capitol grounds Monday, December 2.

According to Provincial Tourism Department head Jeffrey Saclot, only the municipalities of Gitagum, Libertad, Tagoloan, and Kinoguitan have decided not to join the pageant.

“Hopefully, they’ll be able to participate in some of the competitions like the Kuyamis booth competition and the street dancing competition,” he said.

The candidates for Miss Kuyamis 2020 are: Sean Mary Temple (Jasaan), Yanesse Cullamat (Binuangan), Kristyl Louise Marquino (Lagonglong), Sheena Balansag (Talisayan), Jeramie Mingo (Naawan), Alianah Jean Tumapon (Manticao), Danielle Arceo (Balingasag), Samantha Pauline Feranil (Gingoog City), Kyanna Zyra Padogdog Awitin (Sugbongcogon).

“As the years go by, ga-increase ang number of contestants sa Miss Kuyamis. In the first Miss Kuyamis we only had 16, in the second and third Miss Kuyamis we had 20 and right now we are having 21 candidates. So that’s a positive news for Miss Kuyamis pageant,” Saclot said.

Saclot shared that the cash prize for the Miss Kuyamis 2020 is bigger and she will receive several perks during her year-long reign, especially since she will also be the next tourism ambassador of Misamis Oriental.

“Her role is to promote the province of Misamis Oriental and the highlight of which is for her to be able to grab the opportunity of representing Misamis Oriental in the national pageants,” Saclot said.

Celebrities and pageant experts are expected to be a part of the group of judges for the pageant.

Miss Kuyamis 2020 will be held on January 9 at the El Salvador City Gymnasium. The pageant is one of the highlights of the week-long celebration of the Kuyamis Festival which is slated on January 6 to 11, 2020.
