THE SM Downtown Premier Imax Cinema was brimming with people as Kagay-anons were treated to an evening of poise, beauty and elegance during the Long Gown competition of Miss Cagayan de Oro 2018 held last Saturday, August 11.

The 12 candidates walked the runway decked in their stunning white gowns created by the Oro Fashion Designers Guild.

Minor awards were given to the candidates, with Candidate number 8 Ericka Vivero Zayas from Barangay Bugo harvesting most of them.

"I feel so overwhelmed receiving the majority of awards. And I would like to take this opportunity to thank every sponsor who awarded me tonight. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart," Zayas said.

"I didn't expect at all but every exposure that we get, I always make sure that I am the best version of myself and be a good person to every Kagay-anon that I meet all the time," she added.

Mags Cue, the owner of Mags, on the other hand, expressed elation upon watching the 12 candidates strut on stage in their long gowns.

"So far, actually, sa tagal ko na sa Miss CDO, sa totoo lang (in the long time I have been in Miss CDO, to be honest), I can really say this is one of the best batches. Dahil (Because) number one, ang gaganda nila (all of them are beautiful) and height is limited, di ba, we limit the height to 5’5” we have a height requirement of 5’5”. And also beauty and brains talaga itong mga ito," Cue said.

The Best in Long Gown winner will be announced during the pageant's coronation night on August 25.

According to City Fiesta Executive Committee head Eileen San Juan, they are already prepared for the coronation night and ensure the safety and security of the people going not only in this event but also in all the fiesta activities this August.

"Yes, very prepared from what you can see with all the side events na very good presentation and very organized, I would say the pageant night would even be a bigger expectation for all of us," San Juan said.

"We are closely monitoring all the activities. We are doing a lot of meetings together with the event organizers to ensure safety. We hope to have the cooperation of the public to ensure that we have order and safety in all our events," she added.
