Motoomull: Fatherhood

HOW has “Fatherhood” changed you?

As shared by most fathers I’ve known, fatherhood is one of the happiest moments in a man’s life; it makes one feel complete. One father said, “There is always that tremendous responsibility of making sure my child will have a bright future, thus, I’m willing to sacrifice everything.” For him, a child is the ultimate symbol of life and love.

As confessed by another father, “Fatherhood has changed my priorities in life more than it has changed me as a person. Just hearing my baby cry wakes me up instantly. In some ways, it makes me look at life through a new set of eyes. It makes me realize that she’s part of me and I’m part of her, and it makes me want to walk her, guide her through everything she sees, feels or experiences. But at the same time, I realize that even she’s my daughter, I can’t really own her. Since she has her own life purpose to fulfill is one of life’s most humbling lessons.”

“Fatherhood for me is also like a rebirth of my own journey. When my baby was born, a new and improved chapter of my life unfolded, awakening my spirit to the reality that new life is no longer just for myself but for others as well. It gave me a heightened commitment and inspiration to a new way of life in pursuit of goals greater than myself.”

“Fatherhood with my boys made me grow up, want to explore and get out to conquer. But fatherhood with my little girl made me want to be just there, to build and come home. Nothing really beats the love of his little girl for her daddy.”

“Ever since I become a dad, I learned how to cherish and value every moment spent with my kids and family. It also made me realize that it’s important to have a thankful heart every single day because being a father has been one of the blessings I have received from God.”

“Fatherhood has taught me to eat red hotdogs and spaghetti which I disliked. I learned how to be very patient. Now, I appreciate a mother who keeps her kids silent on a plane or in the movie house. I consider fatherhood as another career. Unconditional love is giving to my children as they are part of my flesh and blood. I enjoy weekends and vacation since I don’t get to spend a lot of time with my family during workdays.”

What about you; how has “Fatherhood” changed you? This coming Sunday is a special day for all fathers to celebrate and do some reflection. Our God the Father has assigned each one of you to care for His very own children. God Himself is the model of fatherhood. Please ask the grace to be more like Him.
