1 killed in Initao drug bust

POLICE anti-drug operatives over the weekend killed another suspected drug personality whom they claimed to have been armed with a caliber 38 revolver and who fought back during a drug raid in Initao, Misamis Oriental.

Armed with a search warrant for violations of drug law, combined elements of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU), Provincial Intelligence Branch and Initao town police were supposed to raid the house of the suspect identified as Timoteo Sabellano, 50, resident of Poblacion, Initao town.

But, the operation turned bloody when the suspect allegedly shoot the operatives first, forcing the raiding team to retaliate.

The suspect was hit on the different parts of his body and was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

"Nisukol man siya so lisod pud ang atong police maoy maunhan so nasamdan siya ug gidala sa hospital sa pamasin nga buhi pa pero unluckily gi-declare siya nga dead on arrival sa attending physician," Chief Inspector Arlyne Ranario, Initiao town police chief, said.

Ranario said the suspect was listed in the Director for Intelligence (DI) and has been involved in the illegal drug trade.

Investigators recovered the suspect's 38 revolver with no serial number, and a container with six sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu.”

Ranario said the suspect has no regular job while they are also investigating his previous records in the illicit drug activities.

"Wala gyud ni siyay tarong nga trabaho ug ato pang giimbestigahan kung unsa ka lawom iyang involvement sa drug trade," Ranario said.
