2 rescuers in accident involving Covid-19 patient in isolation

TWO rescuers of the Cagayan de Oro City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD) were placed in an isolation unit after they manifested symptoms of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) before the end of their prescribed quarantine period.

City Health Office (CHO) Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said the two persons were among the group of rescuers who responded to a vehicular accident that occurred on April 19 involving the 21-year-old coronavirus-positive man.

Swabs were taken from the two rescuers on Tuesday, May 5, Retuya added.

Retuya said the CHO has suggested that all rescuers who responded to the incident must add seven days in their 14-day quarantine.

Meanwhile, the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) reported a total of 17 persons admitted at the hospital, two of which are the Covid-positive patients: the 67-year-old man from Tubod, Lanao del Norte, and the 21-year-old man from Barangay Lumbia, Cagayan de Oro City.

One patient from Misamis Oriental has tested negative for the new virus that causes Covid-19, while 14 patients still have pending results.

Of the 14, six are from Cagayan de Oro, four from Misamis Oriental, two from Iligan City, one from Bukidnon, and one from Surigao City.
