3 NMMC patients tested negative for coronavirus

ANOTHER three patients admitted at the Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC) on Saturday, May 16, have tested negative for Sars-CoV-2, which causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), medical specialist Dr. Bernard Rocha reported.

Of the three patients, Rocha said one of them is a resident from another region - a 64-year-old male who was admitted at the NMMC due to acute respiratory failure and, at present, is on a guarded status.

Also tested negative of the virus is a 69-year-old female from Barangay Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City, and the 47-year-old female from Barangay Macabalan, this city, who died on May 7.

Rocha said the 69-year-old woman was admitted at the NMMC due to community-acquired pneumonia (moderate risk), hypertensive cardiovascular disease, and diabetes.

The woman, at present, is in a stable condition, Rocha added.

Meanwhile, six family members of the 61-year-old female Covid-19 patient from Barangay Carmen were all tested negative and have shown no unusual signs or symptoms of the virus, City Health Office Epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said.

However, there are still three close contacts of the 61-year-old woman, who are in the city isolation unit at present, whose swab results are still pending.

Likewise, the 17 close contacts of the 21-year-old Covid-positive man from Barangay Lumbia have also tested negative for the Sars-CoV-2 on Friday, May 15.
