4ID hosts Youth Leadership Summit

OVER a hundred young people have completed a two-day leadership summit initiated by the military in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon, last week.

The 8th Infantry Battalion of the army's 4th Infantry Division (4ID) hosted the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) in partnership with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) last October 25-27.

The event was also in collaboration with the local government unit of Impasug-ong town and in connection to the celebration of "Linggo ng Kabataan 2018."

The military said the activity is aimed to empower the youth sector and to develop them to be a good leader and responsible citizens of the country.

Participants were equipped with additional knowledge and have developed their leadership skills as youth leaders through series of lectures, workshops and team buildings from different facilitators and resources speakers.

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Illana, 8IB commanding officer, said the Philippine Army believes in the youth as catalyst for peace and development.

"In the hands of the youth lies the fate of our country. It is therefore our duty to protect them to ensure that they have a bright future," Illana said.

"Only thru proper education and leadership training that they could learn and experience things that would aid them onto making the right decisions," he added.
