Bambi backs father’s bid

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano is fully supporting his father, former Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente "Dongkoy" Emano, who is seeking a vice-mayoral post in the 2019 elections despite the latter's age.

The younger Emano said it is better to have an elderly official who was never been involved in graft rather than the younger ones who are linked in corruption.

He said the former city mayor has his backing whatever position in government he wish to seek.

"Matag usa kanamo dunay kaugalingong panglantaw sa laraw sa politika bisan pag presidente iyang daganan ako siyang suportahan," the governor said.

The capitol's top official, who is also seeking his third and final term, explained that he was taught by his father to give the best public service to the people who put them in the position.

"Gitudloan kami sa among amahan sa katarong sa politika ug dili angayan nga mahanaw siya sa pagpangalagad," he added.

The 75-year-old political kingpin and founder of the local party Padayon Pilipino is running against vice mayor Rainier Joaquin Uy for the city's second top post in the upcoming polls.

He is the running mate of the opposition's mayoral bet Jose Gabriel La Vina.

The older Emano said he was forced to run for vice mayor after her daughter Nadya Emano-Elipe backed out in the last hour to support the vice gubernatorial bid of her husband President Elipe in Misamis Oriental.

"This is not to challenge whoever is there but this is to offer myself to the people and my intention to serve as I have done in the many years," the older Emano earlier said.
