NEWLY-crowned Miss Philippines Air 2019 Ana Monica Tan of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental is poised to live up to her advocacy in protecting watershed as source of water and food.

But the province's bet in Miss Philippines Earth 2019 said watershed management plan needs community effort to fully protect the river system.

Tan was in town Monday, July 29, for her homecoming hosted by Governor Yevgeny Emano.

A motorcade was prepared for her before Tan's turn to answer queries from the local media in a press conference.

The 22-year-old beauty from Tagoloan town said tree planting and tree growing of endemic trees would be one of the best ways to preserve and protect the ecosystem.

"Tagoloan river is important to the town as source of natural resources and it needs community effort to preserve and protect Mother Earth," Tan said.

Emano lauded Tan's advocacy as the Provincial Government gears up for a water system project in the entire province.

"The plan is we will get surface water or runoff water from Tagoloan river kay it is environmentally friendly kay we don't need to dig a hole then it will be treated and will be supplied province-wide," Emano said.

"If we don't protect Tagoloan river basin, where will we get our source of water for the province," he added.

The governor also backs the planting of endemic trees in Tagoloan.

Emano said the Provincial Government will support Tan's programs in protecting the environment and promoting tourism of the province.

Tan was crowned Miss Philippines Air 2019, an equivalent of first runner-up, during the Miss Philippines Earth 2019 held in Okada, Manila, on July 10.
