City to construct secondary roads for tricabs

THE City Government of Cagayan de Oro is planning to create secondary or inter-barangay roads from Barangay Cugman to Barangay Puerto for tricycle vehicles.

This has been considered following the memorandum issued by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) that seeks to ban tricabs in national highways.

City Administrator Teodoro Sabuga-a Jr. said they have already mapped out the location of the secondary roads and are planning to build two bridges, one of which is in Barangay Agusan, which can be used by tricycles and motorcycles instead of passing through the main bridge, which is connected to the national highway roads.

"Ang gihimo namo karon nag sugod na mi og mapa gikan sa Cugman paingon didto sa Puerto. Maghimo na ta og secondary roads nato," Sabuga-a said.

(What have started mapping, from Cugman to Puerto. We will create secondary roads.)

"Naay ang among buhaton dinhi nga inter-brangay roads, gitan-aw namo karon didto pwede na maagi-an except nga naay tulay tungod kay naay river sa Agusan so karon, gi-apil na na namo sa programa nga magbutang gyud ta og tulay," he added.

(We will create here inter-barangay roads. Tricabs can already use it, but we have to build a bridge since Agusan has a river.)

Sabuga-a said a barangay ordinance should be created following the implementation of the secondary road plan, as this will benefit the barangays involved, especially since tricycle drivers will have to register their vehicles.

"So mahitabo dinha, ang tanan nga mga highway, pang highway ra gyud. So katong gusto mag bike, didto na na sila sa [secondary road]. It should be a barangay ordinance na ang mag handle sa ila," Sabuga-a said.

(So what will happen is those who are for highways have to use the highways. Those who want to use bikes have to use the secondary road. A barangay ordinance should be passed to handle it.)
