Cocpo vows to continue anti-criminality drive amid Covid-19 threat

AMID the community quarantine in the city due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) threat, the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) said the serving of warrant of arrests and the anti-illegal drugs campaign will continue.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Lewellyn Datiles said they are required to capture at least five percent of the total number of wanted persons.

Meanwhile, from March 17-23, Datiles said Cocpo only recorded 16 crimes.

Of the 16, eight are theft, one rape, two carnapping, two physical injury and one murder.

Datiles said the number of crimes in the city has doubled compared to March 10 to 16 in which the Cocpo recorded eight crimes (four robbery cases, two theft, one physical injury and one rape).

"Nag increase ang atong theft karon didto ni sya sa mga commercial establishments, walay ingon nga balay nga gikawatan," Datiles said.

These commercial establishments, she added, were grocery stores and other basic essential establishments.

"Kini sila ang always nga naay recorded nga kaso nga theft," Datiles said.

"Sa adtong mga nagsarado nga mga establishment, kadto sila ang dili gyud masudlan except lang kung wala silay mga precautionary measures nga ilang gi-implement sa ilang establishment," she added.

As for the campaign against drugs, Datiles said they have conducted 15 operations on March 17 to 22 with 23 arrests and 18 operations this week with 33 arrests.
