IT IS not the end of the line yet for the political career of erstwhile city mayor Vicente "Dongkoy" Emano as he is still joining the 2019 elections.

This time, Emano would be running against re-electionist vice mayor Rainier Joaquin Uy.

Emano said he was forced to seek the vice mayoral post after his daughter, last-termer councilor Nadya Emano-Elipe, backed out of the race at the last minute.

His daughter gave way for her husband, President Elipe, who is joining the vice gubernatorial race in Misamis Oriental.

"Nadia did not push through with her candidacy kay iyang bana modagan pagka bise gobernador mabitas tawon ilang panahon ug rekurso busa napugos ako,"Emano said.

The Padayon Pilipino leader clarified that he intends to, not challenge anybody but, serve the people.

"This is not to challenge whoever are there but this is to offer myself to the people and intention to serve our people as I have done in the many years,"Emano added.

Emano also said former city councilor Lourdes Candy Darimbang who earlier manifested her intention to seek the vice mayoral post changed her mind.

Darimbang's Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) was supposed to coalesce with the coalition party of Padayon Pilipino and Centrist Democratic Party led by Rufus Rodriguez.

"We tried our best to work out a coalition. Pirmiro maayo pa apan nausab iyang hunahuna human matuboy nga dako sa partido federal nahukman niya nga dili na siya mokuyog sa coalition kay modagan siya pagka-mayor," Emano said.

"Wala mi mahimo kay iya manang katungod,"he added. (We could not do anything because that is her right.)

Candidates from the opposition party filed their COCs on Wednesday.

Their complete slate include Jose Gabriel La Vina who is running for mayor, Rufus Rodriguez for second district representative and former vice mayor Ian Acenas for the first district.
