Expansion of Laguindingan Airport underway

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny “Bambi” Emano has secured some P190 million for the terminal building and expansion project of the Laguindingan airport in Laguindingan town.

Emano, committee chairman on infrastructure of the Regional Development Council in Northern Mindanao, said the expansion will improve the services of the airport.

The funding will be sourced from the national government and is set to be turned over to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) soon.

Capitol spokesperson Carlo Dugaduga said even the Department of Transportation (DOTr), through its planning service director Felisicimo Pangilinan Jr. has put his confidence to the present leadership of the province.

“The bottomline dito, DOTr is very supportive of the effort of LGUs in developing the economic activities here through the airport. Gov., promise po namin we will fast track the processing of this project para naman makinabang yong taong bayan dito sa probinsya ng Misamis Oriental or in Northern Mindanao, because it’s not only in Misamis Oriental ang masisirbisyuhan ng Laguindingan but the whole northern Mindanao industrial corridor. So, that is the purpose why we transferred the airport from Lumbia to Laguindingan para magkaroon ng expansion. So, rest assured that DOTr as headed by Sec. Tugade will do it best effort, madaliin ang lahat kaya makaasa sa amin si Gov.,”the capitol quoted Pangilinan as saying.

Dugaduga said Tugade and Emano have talked about this plan since last year.
