Expressways in Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro approved

THE Cagayan de Oro City Development Council (CDC) approved Wednesday, December 19, an expressway proposal which aims to address the transportation problem of the region.

The project will be called Villanueva-Tagoloan-CDO-Opol Expressway Project (REXPRIP-6) and the Opol-Laguindingan-Naawan Expressway (REXPRIP-7) of the DPWH.

City information officer Maricel Casiño-Rivera said the project is a four-lane Expressway Road consisting of an At Grade Road, Viaduct, Causeway Road, Interchange and Ramps.

It starts in Barangay San Martin, Municipality of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental and will traverse the areas of Tagoloan and Cagayan de Oro City which will end at the Municipality of Opol, Misamis Oriental.

REXPRIP-7 starts at Opol and will end in Naawan, Misamis Oriental.

She said it aims to address transportation constraints and induce economic development.

The CDC full council meeting was presided by Mayor Oscar Moreno and the project was moved for endorsement by Gusa village chair Marlo Tabac.

The endorsement will be forwarded to the Regional Development Council and when approved will be submitted to the National Economic Development Authority Board for funding purposes.

The project was proposed by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
