FOR almost a week now, some 400 farmers of the Buffalo-Tamaraw-Limus (BTL) are still staying at the provincial capitol grounds of Bukidnon waiting for Governor Jose Ma. Zubiri to act on their demand to distribute to the farmers the 517 hectares of land they have been tilling for three decades now.
Winnie Loable, BTL chairperson said they have no plan to leave the capitol grounds unless they see and hear a response of their long-overdue request.
Loable said the Provincial Board of Bukidnon already passed a resolution addressed to President Rodrigo Duterte and the Congress.
"Pero hulatan namo kung unsa man ang action ilang mahimo, dili mi molakaw diri hangtod dili namo makab-ot ang among gipangayo (We won't leave until they give us what we want)," Loable said.
Loable said Zubiri has promised them that it will distribute certificates of land ownership award (CLOA) but up until now, farmers are still without a land.
The "kampuhan" in Bukidnon is also meant to call on the authorities to pull out the military in their communities, stop the red-tagging and harassment among the farmers.
"Kining maong Kampuhan usa ka makatarunganon ug lehitimong pakigbisog. Hagit usab kini sa tanang katawhang kabus ug dinaugdaug nga musukol taliwala sa Martial Law. Wala kita’y lain padulngan kundili ang dalan sa mas militanteng pagsukol aron iasdang ang atoang demokratikong interes ug katungod alang sa yuta ug kinabuhi (This Kampuhan is a legitimate activity to fight. This is a challenge for the poor and oppressed to join the call to stop martial law. There is no other way but to go to the streets and fight for our land and the right to live)," Loable said.
