SOME Gingoog City hall employees under "job order" status will likely keep their job while others may be booted out if they were found to have been used in politics, Gingoog City Vice Mayor Peter Unabia said on Monday, July 1.

Unabia said there are around 3,500 "JOs" from the previous administration which for him is "too much" while the appropriation is about P140 million.

"Para sa ako ang fiscal management wala masakto. Kung ang JO nagtrabaho ipabilin pero kung ang JO gigamit sa politika definitely ipapahawa," Unabia said.

City Mayor Erick Cañosa also said he will check the functions and performance of the "JOs" before deciding if they will be retained or kicked out.

Cañosa has ordered the department heads to check the performance of the JOs according to their job description.

"We will check unsa ang functions sa JOs based on their accomplishment report kay as far I know ang uban diha wala na nag-function," Canosa said.

He also said he will retain those JOs who performed well since one of the agenda of his administration is employment.

"One of the things nga atong tutokan is employment so kung tarong nga nagtrabaho ang JO ngano pulihan man," Cañosa said.

"What is important is we will give them the actual job based on the need of our city and not just because of political accommodation," he added. (Alwen Saliring)
