Lim to verify reports on villages with no rehab program

LIGA ng mga Barangay chairman Alam Lim said he is not aware of the reported 28 villages whose community-based rehabilitation program (CBRP) are inactive.

In an interview, Lim said that he has not received a notice from the Oro Citizens Wellness and Development Center who provided the data during the kickoff of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week on Monday, November 19.

The list includes urban Barangays 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40.

Also included are hinterland villages, such as Barangay Besigan, Dansolihon, Tumpagon, Pigasag-an, Taglimao, Tagpangi, Bayanga, Pagalungan, and Pagatpat.

Barangays Balulang, Indahag, Consolacion, Bonbon, Balubal and Puerto have yet to activate their CBRP too.

“Kung naa na, ako silang tawagon ug pangutan-on kay wala ko masayod kung tinuod na, we have to verify,” Lim said.

The Oro Wellness said some of the reasons why barangays do not have their own CBRP is because of the recent change of administration in the barangay level, budgetary constraints, and the lack of support of some village chairmen due to political affiliations. Some barangays would also claim that they do not need a CBRP because their village is "drug-free."

Meanwhile, Lim also welcomed the plan that barangay officials will be the next group to undergo drug testing.

“We will meet in our next assembly and we will tell them to allocate an amount to support our anti-illegal drugs program,” Lim added.
