NMMC records 6 Covid-19 recoveries

OUT of the eight coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases admitted at Northern Mindanao Medical Center (NMMC), six patients recovered from the deadly virus and are already discharged.

As of Saturday, April 11, only one Covid-19 patient remains admitted at the NMMC, a 67-year-old male from Tubod, Lanao del Norte who is still waiting for the result of his repeat test.

So far, NMMC recorded one death due to Covid-19, only identified as patient 40 (PH40), the man from Lanao del Sur who died because of complications from the coronavirus disease.

The recent recoveries include a 67-year-old female from Del Carmen, Iligan City and the daughter of patient 598 (PH598), both tested positive for Covid-19. However, they were discharged from NMMC after the result of their second tests read negative.

NMMC chief Dr. Jose Chan said the 67-year-old female was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday, April 8, while the daughter of patient 598 was discharged on Saturday, April 11, following her negative test result which arrived on Friday, April 10.

The 67-year-old from Iligan City was confined at the NMMC on March 19 with chief complaints of cough, fever, and diarrhea.

She has a history of travel to Makati, Manila, and Bulacan on February 8 to March 3.

The 16-year-old daughter of patient 598, or the 66-year-old female from Lanao del Sur who was discharged on March 31 after her repeat test came out negative, were tested for possible infection of Covid-19 together with her mother (patient 598) and father.

However, the mother’s result arrived earlier, while the positive test results of the 56-year-old husband and the daughter arrived at the NMMC only on Wednesday.

The result of the husband’s repeat test arrived on Thursday and also read negative.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno for his part, lauded the NMMC for producing “good numbers” in its fight against Covid-19.

Moreno urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to practice social hygiene pointing out that the battle against the coronavirus is far from over.
