Ordinance on green building set for approval

AN ORDINANCE on green building initiative is up for approval at the City Council, requiring the design of all buildings in Cagayan de Oro to preserve culture and promote health and safety.

City Councilor Ian Mark Nacaya is proposing for Green Building regulations in the city to assure that residential and commercial development is consistent with the city's goals, by incorporating green building measures in design, construction, and maintenance of buildings.

Nacaya said buildings should also be designed to increase energy efficiency buildings, encourage or promote water and resource conservation, and reduce waste generation.

If passed, a technical working group shall be created, headed by the Office of the City Building Official. The technical working group will study and research for the implementation of the ordinance.
