Oro bans sale of firecrackers to minors

THE Regulatory and Complaint (RCB) Board reminds firecracker vendors not to sell their products to minors or they will face penalties and imprisonment.

Lawyer Edgardo Uy, RCB chairman they are set to conduct surprise inspections to the vendors' stalls in Rotunda to place stickers which will indicate minors are prohibited from buying firecrackers.

Uy said over the years, minors are victims of firecracker-related injuries nationwide. Here in Cagayan de Oro, Uy said the RCB aims to help the Department of Health and other concerned government agencies to reduce or even achieve zero injuries.

Under Ordinance No 13394-2018 otherwise known as the Children's Welfare Code, the following firecrackers are prohibited to sell to minors: baby rocket, El Dialo, Judah's belt, sky rocket, among others.

Violators will be fined as much as P30,000 and imprisonment of up to 1 year, cancellation of business permit and license, and confiscation of the items.
