Oro ranks 7th as most competitive city in PH

FROM placing 5th last year, Cagayan de Oro City is ranked seventh this year among the most competitive highly-urbanized cities, during the 7th Regional Competitiveness Summit.

The Department of Trade and Industry-Competitiveness Bureau released last week the overall ranking of the 2019 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index naming Cagayan de Oro as one of the competitive cities across the country in terms of infrastructure, economic dynamism, government efficiency, and resiliency.

Cagayan de Oro's rank this year however dropped, from being 5th last year.

In the Most Competitive Highly Urbanized Cities category, the city ranked second in Resiliency, Top 6 in Government Efficiency; top 10 in Infrastructure; and top 10 in economic dynamism.

The top 10 most competitive cities include Quezon City, Manila, Davao City, Pasay City, Makati City, Pasig City, Cagayan de Oro, Muntinlupa City, Iloilo City, and Bacolod City, respectively.

A total of 1,518 cities and municipalities participated in the CMCI initiative, an award launched by the DTI to recognize local government units with exemplary performance in the four pillars.

City Vice Mayor Uy said the legislative body will continue to work hard in partnership with the executive department to establish Cagayan de Oro as a globally-competitive city.
