MORE than 2,000 job openings will be available to graduates of technical-vocational courses and other unemployed individuals in Cagayan de Oro during the World Cafe of Opportunities (WCO) job fair on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the SM City CDO Uptown.
The said job fair is spearheaded by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole)-Northern Mindanao.
The event is an opportunity for jobseekers to promote the importance of technical vocational skills, which are needed by the industries.
According to Rebecca May Justine Camugao, the senior labor and employment officer of Dole-Northern Mindanao, 37 local and two overseas employers will participate in the job fair.
Camugao said there are around 1,863 local job vacancies and 197 overseas job vacancies available as of August 22, 2023.
The top available local job vacancies include customer service representative, production worker, driver, and bus conductor.
For overseas, top job vacancies are healthcare worker, kitchen staff, nurse, utility, and massage therapist.
The WCO is part of the Technical Vocational Week celebration that brings together organizations and agencies, pulls together resources, and provides job opportunities for employment or income generation.
The job fair will focus on work vacancies related to construction, agriculture, tourism, information technology, and business process outsourcing aside from wholesale and retail economic activities.
