REPRESENTATIVE Juliet Uy of the 2nd District of Misamis Oriental wants Phividec administrator Franklin Quijano to be suspended for his alleged neglect that led to the garbage mess.
Uy said Quijano, as administrator, failed to verify the legitimacy of the garbage importer Verde Soko.
Uy made the recommendation during the public hearing and consultation of the committees on good government and public accountability, ecology and local government on Friday, March 22.
“Gidawat sa Phividec nga new investor kuno nila, but when we checked the area, ang ilang machine luoy kaayo, an engineer said the machine is actually a junk one,” Uy said.
“That is your responsibility to be vigilant kay ikaw man administrator, ikaw magtan-aw kung tinuod ba kini nga investor kay ikaw daw ang nakaila ani before ang board.”
Uy said the committee should strongly recommend the preventive suspension of Quijano to the Phividec board of directors.
The congresswoman also asked the Phividec to pay for the remaining shipment of the 5,100 tons of garbage.
“Kamo dapat magbayad sa gasto. Ikaw nagdala sa basura, so ikaw pud dapat mag-finance sa gasto kay kamo man gapasulod. Naa man mo collections diha sa Phividec, so kamo na mogasto. Walay lain mabasol kundi kamo ra,” he added.
Quijano however dismissed the suspension recommendation against him.
“Nganong ako man gyud, this seems like this is in aid of reelection,” he said.
Quijano said they will study their next move, but stands firm that Verde Soko has good intentions in opening their facility.
“Magtuon pa ang board unsaon kay ang nasud karon walay policy sa plastic. Ang board, naka-amgo nga kung walay buhaton sa plastic, wala gyud tay mahimo. Nagtuo ta ang Verde Soko magdala ug flakes unya ang second shipment basura man, sumala pa so that means naay misrepresentation. Nindot ilang presentation but I think there was a mistake somewhere,” he added.
Uy filed Resolution No.2317, which seeks to investigate the garbage and other solid waste consigned to Verde Soko Philippines that accumulated at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental.
