Police hotlines released

THE Northern Mindanao police on Wednesday, September 5, has released hotlines for the public to reach should there be any suspicious personalities or activities observed anywhere in the region.

Superintendent Surki Serenas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, said the police hotlines are also posted in social media and will be open 24/7 to accommodate security concerns of the public.

The hotlines are 0998-598-6851 (Smart) and 0917-542-9526 (Globe) for Bukidnon; 0998-598-6908 (Smart) for Camiguin; 0998-598-6940 (Smart) and 0905-604-2841 (Globe) for Misamis Oriental; 0998-598-6915 (Smart) and 0917-316-0837 (Globe) for Misamis Occidental; 0998-598-6879 (Smart) and 0917-627-8361 (Globe) for Lanao del Norte; 0998-598-7004 (Smart) and 0917-712-7411 (Globe) for Iligan City; and 0917-771-3663 (Globe) for Cagayan de Oro City.

"We have won against crime and will continue winning so long as the public continue to support and rally behind us," Serenas said.

PRO-Northern Mindanao director Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb has earlier reiterated his order to beef up security in the region following the deadly blast in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.

"Security in major areas in Northern Mindanao was ordered beefed up particularly Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities to continuously put into effect security measures implemented in connection with the 'full alert status' in the entire region," Pacleb said.

More than 500 police personnel from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) were ordered deployed in strategic areas in the two cities.

The region's top cop has also reiterated his directive to all police units for the conduct of stringent security inspections in all checkpoints; deployment of more personnel; EOD K9 teams in places of convergence, economic key points and transport terminals and ports; extra vigilance for suspicious persons, packages or activities; intensification of intelligence gathering and conduct of innovative strategies to harden soft targets.

"This will ensure that practically every busy corners, commercial hubs and other places of convergence will be manned either by uniformed police or covert security personnel to prevent untoward incident from happening," Pacleb said.

"The public remains our primordial and most effective weapon against terrorism. The public just need to be vigilant by doing our share to stop terrorism. Say something when you see something," he added.
