Provincial Library set to open summer class program

ONCE again, the Provincial Library of Misamis Oriental will open doors for a summer learning program that will benefit young children starting on April 10.

Richel Pajara, the provincial librarian, said the summer class this year only caters to the children or grandchildren of the Provincial Capitol employees, of ages 3 to 5 years old.

"We make sure that the students who registered in our program is yung hindi pa nakapag aral, yung mag-aaral pa lang kasi preparatory sya (are those who have not yet started going to school, those who will be starting, because the summer class is only preparatory)," Pajara said.

She added that the goal of the summer class program is to help these children for them to develop basic communication skills and socialization.

"Kasi usually by summer, usually wala nang pasok so yung mga kids natin na papasok rin by next school year at least meron na rin silang experience (Because usually during summer, there are no classes. So for those kids who will be starting next school year, at least they will gain experience)," Pajara said.

The enrollment for the summer class is already closed as they can only cater for 30 students.

At present, Pajara said they already have around 36 students that will be divided into two groups: one for the morning class and the other half for the afternoon class.

The morning class will begin at 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the afternoon class will start at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Classes, according to Pajara, will be held at the Provincial Library every Tuesday and Wednesday wherein the children will be taught by the library staff how to color, the alphabet and reading, among others.

Pajara also mentioned that school supplies and other materials needed for the program will be provided for by the Provincial Government for free.

A total of P40,000 was allocated for the summer learning program by the Provincial Government, she added.

Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano, for his part, assured that the library staff are competent to be great teachers for the children.

"Atong mga librarian grabe kaayo ni sila ka passionate, mga tarong kaayo, buotan ug malantip ang salabutan. Nakasiguro ko nga daghan ilang makatonan kanila sa pangutokan, sa ispiritwal ug pamantasan (Our librarians are passionate, competent, kind and intelligent. I can assure that the children will be able to learn several things in terms of mental, spiritual and manners). You will learn a lot from it," Emano said.
