MURDER charges will soon be filed against personalities behind the killing of Danao, Jasaan, Misamis Oriental village chief Alfredo Zapanta, provincial police official said on Thursday, September 27.
Misamis Oriental provincial police chief Senior Superintendent Rolando Destura said the case will be solved soon after investigators obtained new statements related to the killing.
“May direction na ang investigation natin may mga tao na nagbigay ng statement so malapit nang masulbad,” Destura said.
“May lead na tayo and doon na papunta sa pag-file natin ng kaso,” he added.
Destura refused to elaborate the development of the investigation so as not to jeopardize the probe.
Governor Yevgeny Emano earlier said the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) has identified three persons of interest who might have been responsible for the killing of the newly elected village chief.
Zapanta was gunned down last July 13.
Investigators are looking at politics as possible motive of the killing.
The reward money offered by the provincial government for the information leading to the arrest of the suspects is still fixed at P200,000.
