Upgrading JR Borja General Hospital

AFTER completing the North Wing building, the JR Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) will start the construction of its West Wing building, currently the outpatient department.

Dr. Ramon Nery, JRBGH chief, said the new infrastructure will be a four-storey building that will house the outpatient department, dietary section, pharmacy, and additional wards.

Nery said a room will also be intended to store dextrose and medicines.

The project costs P198 million, funded by the Department of Health’s (DOH) HFEP program.

“Naka-create ug credibility sa DOH nga tanan gihatag sa ato, naa tay counterpart, the spirit of kurambos,” Nery said of the DOH support.

Nery said the hospital has increased its performance to 500 percent. At present, it has 300 percent occupancy rate, and caters 1,000 to 1,500 outpatients everyday.

Dr. Adrian Suba-an, DOH-Northern Mindanao acting director, lauded the city government for leading the development at the city-run hospital.

“I call this team the champion of the development of local health system. You are blazing, you know where you are and you know where you are heading,” he said.

“You have an eye in looking for source of funds. Cagayan de Oro is always ahead, you also prove to be worthy of investment, you know how to strategically collaborate. This new infrastructure is an evidence to all of that,” he added.

Mayor Oscar Moreno said he hopes that the reforms will continue.

“The reforms that we have started, we are now bearing fruits. I hope we can answer the challenges especially the Universal Health care,” he said.
