DESPITE the conclusion of the 2025 national and local elections, the Police Regional Office in Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) said it will continue its intensified enforcement operations as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban remains in effect until June 11, 2025.

"The election process may have ended, but the Comelec gun ban is still in effect until June 11, 2025. We will not slow down our efforts in ensuring that illegal possession and use of firearms are addressed decisively," PRO-10 Director Jaysen de Guzman said.

De Guzman said the police will sustain its heightened alert levels and proactive checkpoint activities to secure communities and deter armed threats.

Based on the latest data from the Election Monitoring System (EMS), a total of 103 individuals have been apprehended and 97 firearms have been confiscated in connection with gun ban violations and other law enforcement operations in the region.

The police confiscated 84 small arms, three light weapons, 10 replicas or improvised firearms, two explosives, and 773 rounds of ammunition.

These figures are the result of the police's intensified checkpoint operations, police responses, anti-illegal drug campaigns, and other law enforcement activities across Northern Mindanao. (Jo Ann Sablad/SunStar Philippines)
