CAGAYAN de Oro City’s young business tycoon Jason Uy and compatriot Warren Thomas Treseno made a successful title-defense in the 16th FDG Badminton Cup doubles elite division tournament on Sunday, June 16, at the Robinson Place in Metro Manila.

The 32-year-old Uy and his much younger doubles partner Treseno, 22, duplicated last year’s feat after winning in straight sets in the final.

The tandem, playing under the banner of Bridgetowne club, nailed their back-to-back title via 21-11 and 21-16 victories over their final foes from RLC Robinson team.

“Jason and Warren have been double partners for quite a long time and that explains why they have a nice blending,” said their coach Michael Vallero.

Uy and Treseno won their first crown last year at the expense of their opponents from Tuguegarao whom they whipped in the final, 21-4 and 21-18.

With their recent win, Uy and Treseno will gun for their third straight title to make a special place in history as among the grand slam winners in the annual FDG Cup. (Jaime A. Frias II, Contributor)
