Chess tourney for kids on Jan. 26 at Limketkai Mall

NEWLY-CONCEPTUALIZED Masters Class Chess School holds a chess tournament for kids on Saturday, January 26 at Limketkai Mall's rotunda in Cagayan de Oro City.

Inspired by the masters' troika of NMs Roly Tan, Rustum Tolentino, and Levi Mercado, the Masters Class Chess School makes the day-long tournament exclusive only for elementary students in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental province.

“We have chess lessons for kids in a very professional way nga amo sab ma-introduce sa mga participants as well as their parents through this tournament,” Tolentino said.

The seven-round Swiss system tournament with P100 registration fee is divided in two groups for Grades 1, 2, and 3 and Grades 4, 5, and 6 with same cash prizes of P5,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

The rest of the top-10 finishers will receive P500, P300, P200, and P100 each.

Time control is 25 minutes with 5 seconds increment.
