15-0 landslide win for Chan-led alliance

THE Chan-led administration will continue to govern Lapu-Lapu City after Team Kaabag secured a 15-0 landslide victory in the midterm elections on Monday, May 12, 2025.

In the early hours of Tuesday, May 13, incumbent Lone District Rep. Ma. Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan was proclaimed the incoming mayor. She will be succeeding her husband, outgoing Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan.

Chan garnered 142,058 votes, or 63.47 percent of the vote, while Junard, who ran for Congress, received 160,447 votes, or 72.27 percent.

Incumbent Vice Mayor Celedonio “Celsi” Sitoy also retained his post with 145,995 votes, or 71.01 percent of the vote.

All 11 incumbent councilors under Team Kaabag were reelected. The following individuals, listed by the number of votes they received, will serve as councilors: Marciano “Jun” Alforque (Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats), Annabeth Cuizon (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas), Susan Baring (Lakas), Celestino “Tino” Aying (Lakas), Jan Vincent “Janvi” Dela Serna (Lakas), Efren Herrera (Partido Federal ng Pilipinas), Ariane Yap (Lakas), Climaco “Montor” Tatoy Jr., Jeorgen Eyas-Book, Joseph Pangatungan and Emilio “Dok” Galaroza Jr.

The only candidate who is not an incumbent council is former Canjulao Barangay Captain Rufo Bering, who placed eighth. / DPC
