SEVENTEEN personnel assigned at the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) headquarters in Barangay Centro tested negative in a surprise drug test conducted on June 16, 2025, as part of the office’s internal cleansing efforts.
According to Police Lieutenant Mercy Villamor, spokesperson of MCPO, who was interviewed on June 18, all participating officers yielded negative results.
“So far, all personnel tested negative. This is part of our yearly random drug testing at MCPO. We do this to ensure that our ranks remain clean and to maintain public trust," Villamor said.
Villamor added that any personnel suspected of being involved in illegal drugs may be reported to the Intelligence Office or Admin Band.
They will be investigated and could be subjected to drug testing.
If confirmed positive, appropriate charges will be filed immediately.
“We want to show that MCPO is clean. We won’t hesitate to act if someone is found unfit for service. Internal cleansing must begin from within," Villamor added.
Villaro said MCPO affirms its commitment to continue implementing measures that promote a drug-free, credible, and disciplined public service.
City Director Police Colonel Cirilo Acosta Jr. also reminded the police force that public trust relies heavily on the integrity of police officers.
The activity was spearheaded by the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the MCPO under the leadership of PLTCOL Mark Gifter T. Sucalit, supervised by Acosta Jr., and supported by the Mandaue City Forensic Unit headed by PSMS Janice Barillo. (Hilary Natalie Berongoy, HNU Intern)
