WHILE most teenagers are planning about weekend hangouts, Christiansen Hermosilla and Ellieken Lim are helping logistics companies fix million-peso data chaos — using a software they built from scratch.

At just 18 years old, the Cebu-based duo is behind Chek Technologies Inc., a software development company that harnesses the power of data science and machine learning to research and train artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.

Their flagship platform, Intelogistik, developed specifically for logistic companies, blends warehouse management, human resource tools, communications and real-time analytics into one intelligent system built for modern businesses. The AI-powered platform makes it easier for logistics firms to run smoother, faster and smarter operations.

Chek Technologies isn’t your typical teen-founded startup. It didn’t start in a garage or as a spur-of-the-moment hackathon idea. It began with Christiansen’s passion for game development — and at just 15, he realized he could channel that talent into solving a real-world business headache: the chaos of logistics data.

“I’ve always loved playing games — so much that I eventually got bored after trying most of them. That’s when I thought, why not make my own?” said Christiansen, the chief technology officer, who recently returned to Cebu after three years of studying in the US, where he also developed software for teachers.

“We saw businesses drowning in Excel sheets that didn’t talk to each other,” he recalled. “So we asked—what if AI could do the talking instead?”

Their answer was Intelogistik — a platform they describe as a game-changer for logistics firms working with dozens of clients who all use different reporting styles.

In one case, a logistics provider believed they had 50 million units in inventory. After using Intelogistik, they discovered they only had 23 million. The discrepancy? A staggering 30 million units.

“That kind of error isn’t just bad—it’s dangerous,” said Christiansen. “We built a tool that helps companies know exactly what’s happening, in real-time.”

With chief operations officer Ellieken focusing on strategy and scalability, Chek Technologies aims to become a trusted partner for logistics companies of all sizes.

Game-changer

Christiansen said this platform is especially game-changing for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), many of which still rely on manual processes and lack the information technology teams to build or maintain their own systems. He said Chek offers a secure, cloud-based subscription model that gives them access to enterprise-grade tools — without the complexity or high cost. Enterprise clients can host their own databases while running Chek’s AI tools locally, ensuring data stays encrypted from end to end.

“We wanted to level the playing field,” said Ellieken. “SMEs shouldn’t get left behind just because they don’t have a tech department.”

Growth in logistics

Chek’s innovative approach recently caught the attention of Leslie Lim, chief executive officer of the LDL Group of Companies, a logistics and customs brokerage firm with over two decades of experience. She partnered with the teen-led startup to overhaul LDL’s operations using Chek’s Intelogistik.

“In logistics, things change fast — and if you can’t adapt, you fall behind,” said Leslie. “These young founders brought a fresh, tech-driven perspective that’s exactly what the industry needs.”

The launch of Intelogistik comes at a pivotal time, as the Philippine logistics sector experiences rapid growth driven by the booming e-commerce industry and its increasing demand for last-mile delivery and efficient
warehousing solutions.

Leslie said logistics was one of the sectors that survived the Covid-19 pandemic, an era that revealed cracks in traditional supply chains, making real-time data visibility and error-free inventory not just helpful—but essential.

Leslie noted that even as the world settles into a post-pandemic landscape, the logistics industry continues to evolve. “The pandemic may have accelerated the urgency, but the need for smarter, scalable logistics tools is here to stay.”

Despite their age, Christiansen and Ellieken said they are committed to scale venture by giving industries practical and well-built technology. They both believed their youth isn’t a hurdle but their edge.

“We grew up around tech. We think differently and we move fast,” said Christiansen. “We’re not here to patch things. We’re here to transform them.”

After Intelogistik, Christiansen said they would unveil a platform that would empower teachers. / KOC
