TWO fishermen from the town of Dauis in the province of Bohol were arrested by the Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) following a buy-bust conducted around 1:50 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Purok 1, Barangay Dauis.
The suspects were identified as Jose Ever Campaña, 39, the primary target of the operation, and his accomplice Bebiano Oribia, 37. Both are residents of Purok 3, Barangay Mantatao, in the town of Calape, Bohol.
Confiscated from them were large packets of shabu weighing more than two kilos, with a standard drug price of P13.8 million.
According to the investigation by the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of the BPPO, Campaña’s illegal activities were being monitored, particularly his large-scale selling of illegal drugs.
During the implementation of Oplan Tokhang, Campaña was among the drug surrenderers but eventually returned to his old ways, allegedly becoming a source of illegal drug supply.
Their modus operandi involved delivering illegal drugs by boat, traveling to towns such as Calape, Tubigon, Loon, Maribojoc, Dauis, Panglao, Tagbilaran City, and nearby areas.
One operative revealed that the suspects had a unique method of delivering their supply by posing as fishermen and transporting the drugs via their boat.
They reportedly started their illegal trade last year, and police began monitoring them after their names were mentioned by other arrested drug personalities as sources of illegal drugs.
Charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the suspects by the PIU. (AYB)
