TWO men were killed in a shooting incident at the Lucas Compound, Bayabas Extension, Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
The victims were identified as Nicardo Nombrado, 59, and George Kyle Lucas, 39, a retired US Navy member, both residents of the compound.
While the suspect was identified as Kevin Asia, a local resident of Bayabas Extension.
He was shot in the foot and is currently at the hospital.
Initial investigation by the Labangon Police Station revealed that Asia entered the compound, raising suspicion among residents. A confrontation ensued, during which Asia allegedly grabbed Nombrado's baseball bat.
Lucas, hearing the commotion, went outside armed to intervene. A scuffle between Lucas and Asia then ensued, during which Lucas shot Asia in the foot. Asia then reportedly disarmed Lucas, prompting Lucas to retreat into his house.
Armed with Lucas' firearm, Asia allegedly shot Nombrado before entering Lucas' house and shooting him four times, resulting in the deaths of both men.
Asia was apprehended by residents who surrounded him and was subsequently taken to the hospital.
According to Police Major Timothy Jim Romanillos, chief of the Labangon Police Station, the suspect is suspected of being under the influence of illegal drugs, as witnesses described him as appearing aggressive during the incident.
Double murder charges have been filed against Asia by the Labangon Police Station. (AYB)
