The Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH 7) inaugurated the third and fourth Sugbo Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services Centers (SugBUCAS) in Cebu City on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The newly opened SugBucas Capitol and SugBucas Sudlon, managed by the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), aim to provide Cebuanos with accessible primary care consultations, urgent relief for minor injuries and illnesses, and preventive health screenings.
DOH Assistant Secretary Christian Saquilabon, Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro, Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco, and Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival led the opening ceremonies.
SugBucas Capitol offers same-day surgical services, including procedures that do not require hospital admission, while SugBucas Sudlon serves as a comprehensive Outpatient Department and Urgent Care Center.
The Sudlon facility is designed to cater to walk-in patients with non-life-threatening conditions, providing routine consultations, diagnostic services, and follow-up check-ups.
“The goal is to offer accessible, efficient, and community-based health services that help bridge the gap between barangay-level care and hospital-based services,” Domingo said.
With the opening of the two new facilities, Cebu now has four operational SugBucas centers. DOH 7 is eyeing the establishment of more centers in the province next year. (ANV)
