TWENTY-FIVE persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) at the Bohol District Jail-Male Dormitory completed a Pastry Making Training Program on June 20, 2025.
The Provincial Government of Bohol, in partnership with the Provincial Training Center-Tesda Tubigon, spearheaded this initiative to provide inmates with practical skills for rehabilitation and reintegration.
A closing ceremony was held inside the jail, where participating inmates received certificates and baking toolkits. Each toolkit included essential baking equipment like hand mixers, measuring tools, and baking sheets. These resources will allow the PDLs to start their own livelihoods once released.
Bohol District Jail Warden JSupt. Tomas Diaz Jr., DPA, stated the program represents hope and opportunity for the inmates. He stressed the importance of equipping PDLs with life skills to help them rebuild their lives after incarceration.
Supervising Administrative Officer Metodio Maraguinot Jr., representing Governor Aris Aumentado, said the activity reflects the provincial government's dedication to providing inclusive and sustainable livelihood opportunities for all Boholanos, regardless of their current circumstances.
Trainer Joahnna Z. Mangyao, training instruction supervisor and Tesda Specialist II, was recognized as a "silent hero" behind the program. Her compassion, effort, and commitment to teaching the PDLs, along with the rest of the training team, were commended.
This initiative is part of the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to offer second chances and long-term livelihood support to the people of Bohol. (Hilary Natalie Berongoy, HNU Intern)
