THE Alta Vista Golf and Country Club will see a fresh wave of action as the 2nd CBS Masters Tournament unfolds on August 7, 2025, on the fairways in Pardo Hills, Cebu City.
The tournament, set to tee off at 8 a.m., is expected to draw a competitive field of players, with tee times scheduled at 10-minute intervals until noon.
Event spokesperson Atty. Jasper Pelayo said the tournament format features both individual and team play, with the System 36 modified Stableford scoring in effect. For team entries, a 4-man team setup applies, with only the best three scores per team counting toward the final tally.
Organized by the Talisay Sugbo Masonic Lodge 422, the event serves as a fundraising drive for the Lodge’s Temple Building Project and community outreach programs.
Participants will be grouped into categories — Classes A, B, C, and Ladies — with the top three performers in each bracket receiving awards and trophies. In the Team competition, three divisions will crown their own champions and 1st runners-up.
Adding spice to the competition are the special hole contests: Nearest to the Pin on Hole No. 6; Most Accurate Drive on Hole No. 11; and Longest Putt on Hole No. 18.
Perhaps the most enticing reward of the day is the P100,000 hole-in-one prize, available on all par-3 holes. Should multiple players ace it, the cash pot will be divided accordingly, Pelayo said.
Pelayo said that while organizers have yet to confirm the participation of top local golfers, the tournament is open to both Masons and non-Masons, with a mix of veteran shotmakers, up-and-coming amateurs, and corporate teams expected to make up the field.
The action on the green will be followed by a fellowship dinner and awards ceremony at the Alta Vista Grand Ballroom starting at 6 p.m., a fitting celebration of sportsmanship and charitable spirit. / PR
