DAN fell in love with Lanie, saying the 54-year-old woman had always been kind to him and often joined him for drinks.
The 27-year-old laborer at Carbon Public Market said he had plans to marry his ideal woman.
However, Dan already knew that Richie, 37, was Lanie’s boyfriend.
On Monday night, May 5, 2025, Dan had drinks with Richie, Lanie and Julius, 24, in Sitio Pig Vendor, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City. The real names of the individuals are withheld in this story.
In the middle of their drinking, Julius also confessed his attraction to Lanie.
“Naibog man gud mi ana niya. Sa akoa lang gusto nako siya minyoan gyud pero nasuko man tong kauban namo nga ingon niya nga sila daw ang uyab mao to nagsumbagay (We were really attracted to her. Personally, I really wanted to marry her, but our companion got angry and said that they were the ones in a relationship, so a fistfight broke out),” Dan said, referring to Richie.
A brawl ensued past 9 p.m., which was reported to the Carbon Police Station. A team of police officers arrived, broke up the fight and arrested the love-struck men along with Lanie.
When police officers frisked them, they found a .38 revolver loaded with ammunition in Dan’s possession.
The four individuals will face charges for alarm and scandal.
Dan said he always carried a firearm due to Richie’s jealousy, as Lanie always joined him for drinks.
He will be charged with violating Republic Act 10591 for illegal possession of firearms, and election gun ban. / AYB
