THREE men and a woman landed in jail at the Carbon Police Station after getting into a brawl over who should win the heart of a 54-year-old woman they were drinking with.
The altercation happened at 9:05 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2025, in Sitio Pig Vendor, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, where one of them was found with a firearm when the police arrived.
The individuals who were handcuffed and brought to the Carbon Police Station were identified as alias Rommel, 27; alias Danny, 37; alias Bobong, 24; and alias Lanie, 54.
The Carbon Police Station received a phone call reporting a commotion in Sitio Pig Vendor. Officers quickly responded and caught the three male suspects in a fistfight, while alias Lanie was reportedly yelling at them.
All four were arrested, and upon being searched, police found a .38-caliber firearm with two bullets in the possession of Rommel.
According to Rommel, jealousy sparked the fight, as all three men had feelings for alias Lanie.
Rommel admitted he had fallen for Lanie because she would often join them in drinking sessions and was kind. However, he had not expected that both Danny and Bobong also wanted to pursue a relationship with her.
As the three became intoxicated, a heated argument broke out since each wanted to win Lanie’s heart.
“Naibog man gud mi ana niya. Sa akoa lang, gusto nako siya minyoan gyud pero nasuko man tong kauban namo nga ingun niya nga sila daw ang uyab mao to nag sumbagay mi kay gusto man nako nga ilogon,” said Rommel.
(We all liked her. As for me, I really wanted to marry her, but our companion got angry and claimed he was her boyfriend. That’s when we started fighting because I wanted to win her over.)
The four will face charges of alarm and scandal, while an additional case of violation of Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms) and Comelec gun ban will be filed against Rommel. (AYB)
