ABOITIZ  Construction is helping bridge the skills gap in the construction sector by equipping unemployed Filipinos in Cebu and Bukidnon with in-demand technical skills, enhancing their chances of employment in the industry.

In a statement, through its partnership with Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and Balamban Extensive Skills and Technology Inc. (Best), the company launched a specialized training program in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and Shielded Metal Arc Welding for 11 selected scholars in Cebu.

Participants will receive Tesda National Certificates, a key credential for employment, and may be deployed to Aboitiz Construction’s project sites
upon completion.

“This partnership aims not just to provide training but to open doors,” said Karmine Andrea Ching, senior assistant vice president for Business Transformation at Aboitiz Construction. “With the support of Best and Aboitiz Foundation, we were able to offer a free one-month training program to chosen individuals from Cebu to help them acquire Tesda National Certificates—an important credential in their pursuit of employment in the construction industry.”

Best president Romelito Mantuhac emphasized the role of partnerships in economic growth. Partnerships like this signify the collaboration that we need for nation-building. Through this, we empower individuals and help them grow as an agent for economic growth.

In Bukidnon, Aboitiz Construction also concluded a Pipefitting Metallic NC II training for 13 scholars in Kitaotao, through Maces Training Institute Inc. The graduates are set for deployment to a maintenance project in Claver, Surigao del Norte.

These initiatives form part of Aboitiz Construction’s long-term commitment to inclusive economic development, workforce upskilling and community empowerment by developing a pipeline of skilled Filipino workers. / KOC
