
IN PREPARATION for the forthcoming season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the Adamson University Soaring Falcons will be holding a three-day basketball tryout in Cebu.
Under the guidance of Coach Nash Racela and Assistant Coach Ryan Betia, last year’s UAAP third runner-up is hoping to discover new and fresh talent from the Queen City of the South as well as from the neighboring towns and cities.
The three-day tryout will begin on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Capitol Parish Gym on Escario St., Cebu City.
The divisions and schedules are as follows: Women’s 25-Under - 12 noon–2 p.m.; Juniors 16-U - 2–4 p.m. (for those born in 2010 and 2011); Juniors 19-U - 4–6 p.m. (born in 2008 and 2009); and Men’s College - 6–8 p.m. (born in 2004 and 2005).
On Thursday, May 22, the tryouts will move to the Talisay City Sports Complex with the following schedules: Women’s 25-Under - 8–10 a.m.; Juniors 16-U - 10 a.m.–12 noon; Juniors 19-U - 1–3 p.m.; and Men’s College - 3–5 p.m.).
The final day, May 23 (Friday), the Soaring Falcons coaching staff will be in Compostela, following the same schedule.
Cebuano Jed Colonia, a former member of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, who is now the coach of the Adamson Women’s team, will also be involved in the tryouts.
Tatah Fermin will oversee the U16, while Mike Fermin will handle the U19 squad.
Last year, Adamson reached the UAAP men’s Final Four after defeating the University of the East in a knockout match, but lost to the University of the Philippines in the semifinals. / JBM
