CEBU-BASED pop punk veterans Ajirakun are back with their first full-length release in over a decade. The new album, titled The Ajirakuns, will be launched with a special live event on Friday, Aug. 16, 2025, at 7 p.m. at Cebu Making Space, a creative venue in the heart of the city.
Known for its high-energy sound and raw, melodic hooks, Ajirakun has been a staple in the local underground music scene since the early 2010s. The upcoming launch event reunites three of the band’s original members — Bradley Tenchavez (vocals/guitar), Dexter Sy (guitar) and Chuki Cabasa (drums) — for a special performance, with John Goon of The Ramonitos stepping in on bass.
The launch show features a powerhouse lineup of local acts, including Tiger Pussy, Die Radio, Trtle Haze, Drop Out Club, Offals, and Annulled by Nature, with a closing DJ set by DJ Short to round out the night. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and admission is free, encouraging longtime fans and curious newcomers alike to join the celebration.
In addition to the concert, the event will also mark the opening of Discarded, a solo art exhibit by frontman Bradley Tenchavez. The exhibit will be unveiled at the Cebu Making Space gallery alongside “BRED’s Discarded Vinyl Stage,” an all-vinyl DJ program curated in collaboration with local vinyl collectives Baihaus Crew and Bart Bros, providing a nostalgic yet gritty sonic backdrop for the visual showcase.
To commemorate the release, Ajirakun has partnered with local craft brewery Turning Wheels to launch a limited-edition beer named “Rippin’ Red Hed,” inspired by one of the tracks on the new album. The special brew will be available during the launch event while supplies last.
“The Ajirakuns” captures the band’s growth while holding true to their pop punk roots — loud, fun and fiercely DIY. Whether you’re a fan from the early days or just discovering its sound, this event promises a night of music, art and community. / PR S
